BLOG

Hello! It's been quite some time since I have posted a blog post on my website and I finally got some free time, so I decided to write. My life has been pretty busy lately, but all good things. For starters, I was asked to attend the CMT Awards and ended up sitting front row right next to Carrie Underwood. Not to mention that Keith Urban and Nicole Kidman were just 2-3 chairs down! Talk about the best seat in the house!

But Wednesday, June 7, 2017 wasn't only exciting because of country music and a moment of fame on television, I also signed with another modeling agency right here in Nashville, TN. I am happy to announce that The Block Agency is my new mother agency. If you know anything about me, you know this is extremely exciting news and something that I have been waiting for to happen for awhile. It's true that timing IS everything.

So if you know anything about me, more or less follow me on social media, you know that I'm always traveling. Some of the time, I'm in Orlando shooting for IMPACT Wrestling. Other times, I'm living out of my car as I travel back and forth to Mississippi to see my love on the weekends (which is often). Today marks a big day as my boyfriend and I celebrate our one year anniversary. Furthermore, this accomplishment means far more to the both of us considering the fact that we do long distance and have for a year. Since I live in Nashville and he lives in Starkville, MS, our driving travel time is roughly 5 hours one way. That means that we spend typically 10 hours in the car in a 3 day span! Talk about exhausting! But last week, we discovered our newest best friend...Contour Airlines!

Contour Airlines is a small airline that travels back and forth between Nashville, TN and Tupelo, MS daily. Contour also provides flights to passengers from Destin, FL to Bowling Green, KY or vise versa. I'll start by saying that Contour Airlines will be saving Cory and I an enormous amount of money and time in the future. For me, time is one of the most valuable gifts in life and should be spent wisely. Contour allows me to capitalize on that idea as we travel from city to city. The best part about Contour is that it's affordable. Last weekend when I took a flight from Nashville to Tupelo, I spent a whopping $38 round trip!! I was able to jump on the plane at 8PM CT in Nashville and arrive to Tupelo by 9PM CT. Once I arrived to Tupelo, we then only had a 45 minute car ride to his home in Starkville, MS. From start to finish, my travel time was 1 hour and 45 minutes. Not only was the flight quick, I was able to have a full 3 seat row to myself. The aircraft that I was flying on was only a 11 seat plane, including the two pilot seats. While the plane is small, the pilots and 2 man crew were extremely friendly. They made me feel welcomed and comfortable. With Contour the perks are endless! I was able to check one bag, bring one carry one and one personal item for free! This advantage made the trip even more worth it as I wasn't having to spend extra money on add-ons to fly. Contour also allows your furry friends to tag along. My 9 month old King Charles Cavalier Millie will be sure to join me on my future endeavors.

Being an Ole Miss Alumni that likes to travel to Oxford for game weekends, events, or visits, Contour will make that trip easy and affordable. Going forward, I will suggest this option to many of my other Ole Miss friends who are looking for a quick trip to Dixieland.

In short, thank you Contour Airlines! You saved me from drinking absurd amounts of caffeine and countless hours on the road. Additionally, I know that my family is enormously appreciative of you too. You allow their daughter to no longer have to put multiple miles on her car and drive at odd times of the day. Cory will be seeing you very soon as he makes his trip to Nashville, TN tonight for our one year anniversary.

Most people are instantly intrigued when I tell them that I work for a professional wrestling company called IMPACT Wrestling. For those who aren’t at all familiar with the industry, it’s utterly foreign and new. Naturally, the first question I get when I mention a career in professional wrestling is, “Are you a wrestler yourself?” and that answer is always no. For clarification, I am the female backstage interviewer for IMPACT Wrestling. Being a broadcast journalism major from The University of Mississippi who wanted to pursue a career in entertainment, sports, or music after graduation, taking a job with IMPACT Wrestling in June 2016 collaborated two of those areas of interest. Prior to coming to IMPACT, I interviewed with IMPACT Wrestling executives multiple times and was selected as a perfect fit for what they were looking for. I was beyond thrilled that I had secured a job straight out of college that allowed me to continue doing work on-air.  I had always desired to move to Nashville, TN after graduation and IMPACT Wrestling was headquartered there. The fit couldn’t have been more perfect and the opportunities were endless. I felt beyond blessed and continue to feel that way everyday as I grow and learn throughout my career.

If you know anything about my background, you know that I have always a passion for sports. Growing up as an athlete I spent most of my weekends at volleyball tournaments and other athletic events. It's clear that I have a love for the game. Previously residing as the primary in-venue and on-camera host for all of Ole Miss Athletics men’s sporting events helped me gain experience and further my knowledge in the field. Holding this position not only allowed me to gain my wings to fly, but it allowed me to meet many amazing people throughout my 3 years working with most departments within Ole Miss Athletics. Some of those folks eventually became family more than friends, which I am forever grateful for. Most people don’t know that when I originally came to Mississippi my freshman year of college, I knew only 5 people. It is absolutely incredible to take a look back at my journey and watch everything unfold as Ole Miss enabled it all. Because of that experience my advice to anyone is to take a risk, go after your dreams, and never be afraid of the unknown.

Only working in the professional wrestling industry for almost a year, I have learned more than I ever would’ve imagined I could. I get to meet new people daily and be on an nationally televised show each Thursday night on POP TV…all at the age of 23! I have gained friends that will forever have IMPACT’d my life and taught me something along the way. I also have gained so much respect for the people who put their bodies on the line every time they step inside the ring. The second most asked question I get when I let people know what I do for a living is, “Isn’t it all fake?” and that answer is always no. Each fall the wrestlers take on a steel ramp, staircase or concrete floor is real. Major props to all of those hardworking, bulletproof people who continue to set fire to their dreams through their grind. As for me, I am the lucky one that gets to speak with them after a hard fought match or situation. My job, crazy at times, allows magic to be captured backstage of the arena. Furthermore, I get to witness everything firsthand. I could tell stories for days on the experiences I’ve had thus far. One thing is for certain, I wouldn’t change any of it for the world.

Not only do I get to use my talents in front of the camera, I am able to put my writing abilities to use on impactwrestling.com each and everyday. As a digital and social media manager for IMPACT Wrestling, I have the ability to dive into the social world and curate content daily. But of course when I’m not writing, I am filming shows such as INSIDE IMPACT downstairs of our studio with our production crew.

The story on my journey to IMPACT Wrestling might be a little late to tell, but it something I have had a desire to share since the day I started working with the company. Many have asked how, why, and where I got started and this post sums everything up for the most part. After all, it’s better to be late to the party than never show up at all, right?

Going forward, I will be sharing some of my thoughts, ideas, and experiences through mckenziemitchell.com . Stay tuned for exclusives to come!
